WE NEED YOU!

Adopt-A-Building

Families, single or multiple individuals, businesses and organizations have the opportunity to help preserve Dickinson County's heritage through the Adopt-A-Building Program that supports the preservation and upkeep of the Society's historical buildings.

Your $500 annual tax deductible adoption donation also gives you recognition in the The Gazette, the quarterly newsletter distributed to all DCHS members.

Your Adopt-A-Building donation will be renewed annually on your adoption anniversary.

Buildings available for adoption are:

  • Warehouse (home of numerous donated items waiting to be exhibited)
  • Farmstead (Volkman Cabin, Outhouse and Chicken Coop)
  • Carousel Building
  • Blacksmith Shop
  • Burklund Store
  • Kellogg Schoolhouse
  • Acme Telephone Exchange Building
  • Mack Line Truck Building
  • Agriculture Exhibit Building
  • Prichard Barn
  • Museum Buiilding

Adopt-A- Carousel Horse

The Adopt-A-Horse program helps preserve the historical society’s 1901 C.W. Parker Carousel.

For $100, an interested sponsor selects a horse or chariot on the carousel. Placed near the chariot or horse is a plaque with donor's information and, in the case of a horse, the donor's chosen name for the animal.

The donation period is from January to December annually.

Seventeen horses and four chariots are available for adoption.

Volunteer

The museum would not be able to offer visitors the educational opportunity to EXPERIENCE HISTORY and to preserve the heritage of Dickinson County without volunteers.

You may choose from a number of diverse volunteer opportunities requiring as much or a little time as you desire.

Phone the Dickinson County Heritage Center today at (785) 263-2681 or email

Heritagecenterdk@sbcglobal.net to volunteer.
